Default Trans slipping *pic*

trans has been slipping.. it was built by Hughes trans with a 2500 stall, the engine was completely stock.... after about a year of street driving and no track days it started slipping, the fliud level was good... what would cause this to happen?

Well if it is slipping in first that is the forward clutch or the low/reverse clutch that you see in the bottom of the pan. It sounds like it's time to replace it or have it freshened up.

If you plan on doing this yourself the first thing you should get is a atsg book. It might be a little much to do yourself but that is your call. You really need to get it apart before we can determine what needs to be replaced or updated. You might want to consider a rebuilt. Vince

I've already rebuilt fwd trans, im not too worried about being able to build it.. Ive already spent 2600 on it and it failed after a year. im not about to pay another 2k for a built one... would it be ok/safe to use the torque conv. out of this trans into another one with 77k mi?

You should probably have it freshened up. I was not doubting you as far as rebuilding it yourself. I have to ask that question because some guy's really get in over their heads at times. Good luck to you with your project. Vince

Default transmission slipping code

I hope this is in the tune that I can fix. Got a code saying trans is slipping.I currently have a 3500 stall and the trans was rebuilt about 1 year and a half ago. The only symtoms I've seen is t.c. not staying lock in high gear and a 20deg. increase in trans temp(use to be in the 170 range but last check while t.c. wasnot staying locked was in the 190s on a cool day. Anyone seen this before? BTW trans tune has been there for about a year.
