New tranny or just a stall?

New tranny or just a stall?
I am college student and i got the car away for winter, but i am saving for a stall or tranny or both. I just want to do it right so i dont have to spend money thats not necessary. I am not sure if i should just get a stall or wait and get both with a tranny cooler behind all that. Is a new flexplate a good idea or will the stock one be fine? I am looking at like a 3200 stall that can handle nitrous for now, and maybe in a few years upwards to 700 hp i just don't know what converter to choose, as well as tranny. I will take all the help i can get.

How many miles are on your current transmission? Does it seem to work ok? It would be a good idea do both at the same time but money sometimes is an issue. You will probably want to have your car tunned after you install a stall tc as well. Check out the link in my sig for pricing and info. If you have any questions feel free to call us anytime. Vince

The car has about 38,000 miles on it. It seems to work okay but last time when i was at the track i think the converter was slipping with nitrous. On a 50 shot i wan a 12.2 at like 110, and on a 100 shot i ran a 12.1 at 117. The mph is for a 11.7 to 11.5 pass. My 60s on both runs were 1.9s. What kind of tune would i need. Like a dyno one or could i just send in my computer and have it flashed?

On a stock trans with a 3200 verter I blew up the transmission on a 100 shot.
Ran a 12.1 @ 117mph. Haven't done a nitrous pass since. (Still need a new fuel pump.)
At least get some of the items upgraded in the transmission if you dont' replace the whole thing.
I fragged my sunshell and that let loose little pieces of metal that wreaked havoc inside of just about everything.

The first thing that you have to do is decide what budget you are willing to spend. It's like saying should I do a cam only or heads and cam? In both cases, a built tranny with a new converter or doing heads/cam at the same time are going to be the better options. What are you looking at paying?
Good converter 700-800 dollars, then you have to look at install, you're going to need a tranny cooler with a stall converter, and more than likely you're going to need a tune.

i know i looking at a level 4 FLT, or the tranny from Speed inc the strip one that is 1850. Far as a converter goes i havn't decieded yet on what to get. Install i probably gonna do myself if i have time. I have accesses to a lift, and all the tools. I am just torn between getting a tranny and paying like 2500 down on my car to end my loan sooner. Well see what happens. All my money i got in an account that i can't get until june.
