Default Help! Am I Missing a bolt?

In process of removing my auto trans from a '01 Z28- have removed 8 bolts from bellhousing but it still won't separate with gentle prying. There was a 12:00, one at 11:00, one at 10: locater pin at 9:00, one at 8:00, one at 7:00, one at 5:00, one at 4:00 another pin at 3:00, and one at 2:00, and none at 1:00. Three torque converter bolts removed. slight bellhousing movement when I pry around starter opening.

Thanks for any advice

Sounds like you got all the bellhousing bolts.... probably hung on the "locater pin". Not unusual at all. If you need to pry, do so evenly on both sides... make sure the rear mount is out of the way entirely.

You may try spraying the locator pins with some lube. The method I have used is......get pissed off at it and shake the hell out of it back and forth. If you have fought with it long enough.....getting pissed isn't too hard.

Sounds like you got all of the bolts. Just be careful if you pry on it.....don't put too much pressure.

First time my trans came out it was a bitch getting it off of those pins, I had to shake the **** out of the trans/engine.

You did get the converter bolts out right?

Thanks for the encouragement- it is out now. I have never encountered one so frozen on the locater pins. It took a lot of prying with prybars, screwdrivers and a three foot crowbar. I am going to put antisieze on it going back in.

YOU GUYS ARE GREAT

Yep, they can be a bitch.

Using an anti seize compound of any sort will indeed help with future R&R's.
Glad that helped.
