Default Need tranny help

I put my new tranny in and it wouldnt go into second but would go into 3 and O/D. We went back in and check a couple of things( the 1-2 shift springs and ball, the servo on the side of the tranny). We put it back together and now it will shift great though all the gears but when Im driving it down the road it wont downshift to 2nd, it wont even downshidt into 2nd manually.. It will Manually downshift into every other gear.. I cant figure it out.

Someone help PLEASE !! I need my truck back up now that it is getting colder and all I have is my truck and bike ..

Are you getting any codes? It is possible that you have a bad 3-2 solenoid or unpluged one. Also there is a spring that likes to break behind the 3-2 shift valve. This might not be the problem but something to look at. Vince

I believe what you checked was the 1-2 shift valve. The one I'm making reference to is in the front of the valve body closest to the TC. If you look at this picture it is the one with the white connector on the right. This is the 3-2 solenoid. I would be looking in this area. Behind that solenoid is a valve with a spring that likes to break. This could be your problem. Who is doing the work on this trans?

Well as vince was saying the 3-2 o the spring in the valve bore are the most likley things.
As for the builder he may be very good anyone can have a problem and everyone does eventually its how they handle it that makes or breaks them

As you know automatics are quite complicated. Diagnosing this type of problem on the web, in a forum is even more complicated.

As previously stated there is a control issue... if it is upshifting fine then it can be assumed that the rotating assy. is just fine. The most logical place to start is the 3-2 solenoid and related valve train. This type of failure is not easily resolved, your builder should have a scanning tool, it should have the ability to drive or operate the solenoids with the key on, engine off. Ask him to check the solenoid in this manner before replacing it as there can be a termination issue outside the trans as well as at the solenoid.

Let us know what took care of it.
