Just like it says. Is this a wise choice? Consider the car wont be at the track no more that 4 times in a year. Can I save the tranny with continued and regular fluid changes like about every 6 months or is this a waste of money? Who sells a Trans Brake? Thanks guys, MERRY CHRISTMAS!!!

It has been done, but 4l60E are weak trannies compared to a 4l80E or a 400 turbo.

If you go for a trans brake only put it on a new or fresh built transmission as other items must be upgraded at the same time

Oh? The tranny was rebuilt @ 12K miles. The car has 39K right now. What kind of upgrades are we talking about? Thanks Mr Yank!

If your not running at least a 28" slick I'd say a transbrake is a waste of money. You'll just smoke your tires otherwise and it won't help your et one bit.

Transbrakes for 4L60E are not cheap either. I think rossler makes one and its about $600. Here is one for a 4L80E:

You'll want to get just about every part upgraded in that tranny, not just a rebuilt. Upgraded planetaries, hardened input/output shafts, sun shell, upgraded clutches and band, servos etc. Rossler is the only one I know that makes a t-brake for the 60E that still allows the computer to do it's thing.

Ever heard of suspension tuning? Aside from the fact that this is wrong.

A transbrake is very beneficial in cutting a good light. Not to mention a properly setup car that has a transbrake will hook better than a car with just a stall.

Of course I've heard of suspension tuning. And of course I am aware that I transbrake is very beneficial to cutting a good light. I have one.

But the guy, judging from his mods, is not to that point in his car that he would benefit from a transbrake. At this point, it would be a waste of $600 which he could use for something else. If you read his statement he says: "Consider the car wont be at the track no more than 4 times in a year."

Simply throwing a transbrake on a car with street tires and minimal suspension mods is not going to help his et. And I believe his money will be better spent on something else at this point.

That was my point. You missed it entirely.

Thanks 1320Fever, I realize that having slicks is going to be a MUST in order to benefit from the trans brake. I went to the track this past Sunday and cut my first 12 second pass on warm tires because it took 30 minutes to get to the track. After I sat in the pits shoot'n the bull with other drivers and let the tires cool down I was unable to get the same speed and trap times as I was before because of traction problems. So I will be getting a set of slicks to run on the track (gotta ask what size wheel & tire fits under my lowered car) but I was more concerned about making the 4L60E last or if I did buy the T B then my 60E takes a dump, can I use it in a new 4L80E that is stronger and able to take the every so often abuse of a track? My 60ft times are horrible, I have yet to get under a 2.00. I have a Vigilante 3200 stall waiting to go in and then have the car retuned and then returning to the track for some numbers, I met a guy at the track who had a TB and it was awesome. Thought I would look into getting one, thanks for the advice!

Oh yeah, a 4L80E will hold up to the abuse. Not too sure about a 4L60E though. As indicated above, it (4L60E) would have to be built-up to handle those kinds of loads. And even then, its not for sure. But a 4L80E should be able to handle it all day.

C5 4l60 from RPM TRANNSMISONS. t-brake forged input output shafts 5 pinion and of course rodney's special recipie. i have run 30 145 passes with NO issues, granted no w/t-brake but.......
