I'm an idiot.
Since I've had my stall I've been accelerating REALLY slow to try to conserve MPG, it takes me literally about 30 seconds to get to 40 MPH. This tank though I've been trying to drive more naturally and not so slow to speed up. I am getting tons better gas milage on this tank, I think because I took so long to speed up before I was keeping my RPM's above 2.25k for an extended period of time, where as now I'll maybe get them to 2400 RPMs but get to speed and lock up alot faster and thus saving me MPG. It took me a year to realized this!

The most efficient way to accelerate would be to get as close to coupling speed as safety and conditions merit. When you reach your crusing speed drive normally.
THERE IS A BALANCE for better MPG. And you are correct that accelerating too slow or too fast costs you more. I used to log the crap out of stuff like this searching for the answer!!
I also argee with Performabuilt. Have to mess up to learn. That is the only way.
