Default th350 convertor to flexplate question

just finished rebuilding my th350, hope it works.

so I bolted the trans to the engine, 5.3l, and there is about 3/8" between the flexplate and the tabs on the torque convertor. This is with the convertor fully engaged to the pump.

So will it be ok to bring the convertor out flush to the flexplate? should I make some spacers and buying longer bolts so it stays fully in the trans?

I jsut don't want there to be some problem with the trans pump or input shafts if it is not fully engaged.

any help/suggestions would be great!!

thanks,

Matt
