So the first gear is lower in the th350 than the 4L60E?

No,
TH350=2.52
4L60e=3.06

No T56?

this is why the 4L60e launches so well. that huge first gear. its also why you dont need big gears in your auto!

There were Super T-10's in the early to late 1970's with gear ratios of
2.43 1.61 1.23 1.00 Close ratio
2.64 1.75 1.33 1.00 Wide ratio
both were excellent for street & drag racing.
