Shot in the dark...anyone know vw tranny's?

Default Shot in the dark...anyone know vw tranny's?

just picked up a winter car for dirt cheap. car will go in reverse and neutral. car acts like it is in neutral in all the forward gears. also has no park. thanks if anyone knows its a 94 auto 2.0 jetta

You never actually asked a question. Most likely the forward clutches are fried. These transmissions are NOT cheap to repair. They also suffer from PCM's that are calibrated improperly and must be updated to the newest calibration. Personally, I would try and get rid of the car. You will spend more on the transmission than the car's worth.

Before i threw the baby out with the bath water I would pull the pan and check the linkage i have seen them come loose inside these and cause a similar problem.And the forward clutch would have no effect on park its a purely mechanical device.
I would do that first.

Those auto trannys in the jetta's are junk. I would at a wrecking yard and sell everyone that I can get my hands on. If you do a service on the trannny make sure and put the VW fluid in it.
