Tranny Cooler with a Fan?
I am about to put in a yank ss3600 and i need to buy a tranny cooler, and i want to know if its worth the extra moeny to get the fan. The car is my weekend fun car, that i drive on nice days in the city, and go to the track 5-6 times a year. So it will see some stop and go traffic. I already have a deep pan that adds 3 qts, and i goona get a tranny temp gauge as well. I don't want to spend the extra moeny to get a fan, but if i need to i will. Next year the car is gonna have a FLT level 5 in it if that matters.

I have a fan on my cooler.. It's not much more at all and I like the extra insurance... heat kills transmissions and if you have a performance tranny and a high stall converter that equals more heat.....
i'd say get a cooler.... it'd cost you more later on down the road to fix your tranny right????

If you have the radiator fans running on low when the engine
is warm then you probably don't need a trans cooler fan. I
run my low fans at a degree or two below the thermostat
pivot temp (seen at highway cruise) and the high fans a
degree or two above that. So then there is always airflow
for the cooler which sits on the front of the A/C condenser.
With stock fan settings, yeah, get a thermostatic fan type
cooler.
