Default Torque Converter question

I know nothing about torque converters can someone explain them. And will it hurt gas mileage, i have an automatic. thanks

they allow you to stall the car up and lauch according to the stall speed like say 3600rpms. it ruins gas mileage but really lets you take off hard and fast and can make an A4 an M6 slaughterer

hey orange while yur at it could you fix your little 6400 and sumthin forced inductions votes thing in my BGRA vs SSRA poll

Ya torque converter eats that gas about as quik as a fat kid eats cake. If that analogy doesn't make sense well im sorry.
