Default A weird problem

I know a good sign that our auto's are going out is when you accelerate hard and then it doesnt shift and just bounces off the rev limiter. I thought that was the problem with mine because every once and a while I accelerate briskly the tranny wont shift, it will just hang there at about 2900 to 3500 rpm. If I let off the gas it still wont shift, the RPMs will drop but if I try to accelerate it just acts like its in Neutral, the only way to fix the problem is to shift into N and then back into D, then everything is fine.

I decided to see if I gunned it if it would bounce of the limiter, so the next time it started to act up I punched it and it pulled hard all the way to redline and shifted fine. no bouncing off the limiter.

I had the tranny scanned for codes and nothing came up, and it also seems more likely to act up when it is cold.

sorry for the long story but if anybody has any idea whats going on please say something.

thanks
