Question Shiiiiit...is my 4L60E on tis way out?

Ok folks, the other day I was putting my LS6 intake on with my dad. we get it all tgoether and take it for a test run on I-95. I leave from about 20mph in D not OD, but just D. On the 2-3 shift it was banging off the limiter so I got off it since im always paranoid about breaking something. I thought maybe it was my tune but PCMFORLESS sent me my specs...

shift points are 6100 1-2 and 6050 2-3 and 3-4 The limiter is at 6400

Is it possible the rpms just ramped up to quick for it to shift or is this thing on its way down south? The fluid is clear pink and the tranny looks really clean and the rest of the underside is greasy as hell so I thought the tranny may have been newer.

**FWIW the car during normal driving goes through all the gears just fine

Thanks for your help guys!

lower the 3rd shift point the intake may have increase the rate at which the rpm climb and there may not be enough time to the 3-4 clutch to apply before it actually hits rev limiter, Particularly if theres high 3-4 clutch clearance . There is a delay between comand and actual shift and it worse on the 2-3 shift than any other, I would drop the shift point a little couple 100 and see what happens . then if it dosent help you may have a 3-4 clutch going south

Mine does the same thing. If i put it in od it works perfect everytime. Dont know why, i just make sure to keep it in od only.

The reason for the difference is that unlike OD in D not only is the band being released using fluild and the 3-4 clutch being applied using fluild but your also turning on the overun clutch, Where is OD you are not turning on the overun clutch, The more chambers that must be filled the more lag there is from comand to shift

mine did the same thing and about a month later 3rd and fourth went out. i would lower the shift points and start saving up and looking into a rebuild.

from my point of view, the tranny in my 96 formula would hang up real bad on the 2-3 shift, but only from a roll, it wouldnt shift at all at WOT, 3 weeks later 4th went out then 5 miles later 3rd was gone as well. just from my perspective though.
