Vigilante vs. Yank
I'm getting ready to get a torque converter soon and I'm just wondering how these two brand compare in a couple different ways. How tight are they both for daily driving? I would like it to be as close to stock as I can still with about a 3200-3600 stall. I like the idea of a free restall my Vig, but that means I have to take it out and everything again, so I'm not sure how useful it would be to me. Also with quality how do they compare? I was planning on getting a Yank, but the free restall might be nice too, thats why I'm considering the Vig.
I guess I'll throw a poll on here too so I can get more input from people who don't want to type an explaination.
Thanks

I've had my Vig 3600 since 1996 and its been flawless...Great for DD and hits like crazy at the track...I may up it to 4000 at some point so its better matched to my set up now, but its a great piece...I drppoed .5 and picked up 1 mph over an LPE 2800 that it replaced...

Yank and Vig are the top 2 brands that are worth every penny. You will probably get just as many Vig supporters as Yank. I have been using Yank for many years and have had great success with them. As far as a restall, it is best to do it one time and forget it. Yank's Super Stock Series is a great TC and is very light, 28lbs 10oz. and is a work of art.

I have only ridden in my car that has been stalled, I have a yank ss3600, so you know were my vote goes, The car almost acts like normal around town, I still need to get the tranny tunned so it will probibly be even better after that. It hits really hard to, I am going to have to invest in some better treads, cause these 315/35/17's aint cuttin it.

They both will perfom in similiar ways. The Vigs tends to stall higher than there initial rating. The Vig 3200 is more like a 3600 and the Vig 3600 is more like a 4000. Yank and Vig are built like tanks and cannot go wrong with either one. I chose Yank from past experiences and the Super Stock Series would be a tighter combination over the Vig.

Yank SS4000 here and it drives just like my old Yank ST3500 around town. I consider it tight with my 3.23's although some think it is too loose. I couldn't be happier with it. First time out at the track with the new tranny and the 4K I couldn't hook the Nitto's at all, but gained .3 in top end alone. Used to run 10.8X's in the 1000' and my best was a 10.53 with a 1.90 60'. I was cutting 1.9X's on street tires before the converter. So with some traction and better short times, this converter will definitely throw down some good times.

Was VIG 3200 for 2.5 years, clutches showwing slight weakness signs, got a VIG 3800 to replace it.
2 year free waranty and 1 free restall. that is not matched by any others and says something about VIG confidence.

yank ss3600 it is really nice. Drives a little different, but when cruising, not under a load, my rpms actually dropped a little. Really nice smooth feeling, and hits hard from a dig.
