Stall for a 228R cam
ok guys, jsut doing some research and all so bear with me!
I'm looking at the 228R cam from TSP (228/228 .588/.588) and was told I would have trouble ideling and I'd need a stall converter for it. what would be the smallest possible stall I could go with, or is there any way to turn up the stock stall speed?

You can not turn up the stock stall. The smallest stall I would go with is a 3000. But I highly recommend a 3600. Very streetable, huge performance boost and it'll really wake up that cam.

The SS3600 is the one I like the best. But the stealth 3000 or SS3200 would also work.
Good luck.

I see that TCI makes a 3k stall, anyone know who makes a 2800 stall?

Vigilante makes a good 2800 stall. I ran one for a couple of years until recently bumping it up to 4000. I never had any issues and within a few days, you won't even know its there.

Yes, a majorty of them are. Try fruddle sp? he had some troubles in the past, but his converters were not bad for the price. Here https://ls1tech.com/forums/sponsor-sales-specials/677202-unbelievable-savings-fuddle-spring-sale.html

Get a Yank SS3600.
I had a Yank ST3000 and they both drive the same (until you mash it)
My wife even says it's the best thing I did to the car.
Note that I've got a 228R cam and headers.
You will need a dyno tune for thye cam; not the converter.

seriously. get the 3600 and let him deal with it. get it put in and dont tell him any different. driving the car he'd know no difference. as far as he's concerned, the 2500-2600 rpms it takes to get the car moving would be enough to convince him that it's a small stall, by the sound of it.
