First I would scan for codes, Then if possibile run scanner or tuner and look at data stream while driving observe if 4th gear is being comanded.

Check your 2-4 servo assy on the side of the case. I tried to use this super hipo better than sex 2-4 servo kit a few years back and got butkis for fourth on the highway. Installed it at my friend's moms house in West Patterson, Had to drive from exit 16W to exit 7 with NO 4th GEAR!!!!!!!!! Tacking 3,000 rpm on the turnpike was no fun!!!! Got my stock servo out, lowered y-pipe, trans, installed STOCK 2-4 SERVO. Like magic, got 4th gear. If you like filing servo pins or using experimental parts, DON'T USE THE STOCK SERVO. If you want fourth gear, USE THE STOCK CORVETTE TYPE SERVO, which I think is what's stock in LS1 cars.

if your second gear is working then i would think that the 4th servo may be leaking 2nd uses the band alsoin 4th the 3rd clutches are on also so if you have 2ndd 3rd i may say that the 4th servo piston is leaking...the 3-4 shift isnt really controlled electronically so i doubt its a electric problem your 3-4 sheduling valve could be stuch also

Actually 4th gear as all gears in a 4l60e is controlled electronically
1= both solienods on
2=1-2 solenoid off and 2-3 solenoid on
3=both solenoids off
4=1-2 solenoid on and 2-3 solenoid off

Its gets a little confusing for so people because there are only the 1-2 and 2-3 solenoid which would lead one to beleavie that they do not control fourth , Thats why I prefer shift solenoid A (1-2 solenoid) shift solenoid B (2-3 solenoid)
each gear is created based on the combination of and on and off of these two solenoids, Two solenoids do make 4 gears because there are four combinations .
Though a hydralic issue is always possible with the 4th servo since it was working fine before again I would check and see what gear is being comanded in the data stream as I mentioned before first.

People seriously need to start looking at the post dates for threads.

Start a new thread and post pictures of your issues.
Otherwise...get the torch out...I bet you can manage to get it apart that way
