4l60e not shifting!
I have a 2002 camaro z28 with headers, thermostat, and intake. I had it tuned by mti. They did not know what the deal was either. The problem is it does not want to shift. It hits the rev limiter several times before it shifts in between each gear. When i shift it by hand first and second it doesnt hit the rev limiter. Also i can shift it at a higher rpm (it shifts perfect). I figured it wasnt that the tranny was messed up but i had it looked at by the dealership anyway. They replaced a transmission mount and that was all they could find wrong. I figure whatever tells the transmission it is time to shift is messed up but the real problem is i dont know crap about em. Any suggestions as to what might be wrong?

No codes... the guys at mti are wonderful.... they fixed me up and they are very well respected.... if it were a tuning issue they would have fixed it... i dont know if i made it clear but it was doing it before i got it tuned. thanks.

Well the transmission is told to shift by the PCM this is accomplished by turning solenoids off and on. If all the sensor readings are correct which they should have been able to tell during the tune and if the comand to shift is being given again should be able to be seen , That would leave you with a Trans internal issue, Command(the whatever tells it to shift)is the tuning if all that is correct and working then that would only leave a trans problem.

The mechanics at the dealership told me they tested it for slippage and said it had none.... Do you think maybe a solenoid is going out and that is why it doesnt want to shift when i have it in drive and overdrive or do you stick with your earlier statement? Like i said before, if i shift it by hand at the same rpm's or higher it has no problem shifting right away. Thanks

oh, also another thought that comes to mind is i put a lower temp thermostat in my car, and i put royal purple atf in there, if the royal purple is a different thickness and if its thickness changes less with heat, would it take longer for the tranny to shift? Would you recomend changing the fluid?
