Default 4l60e valvebody

I have the 1870 code in my 97 chevy 1500 4x4. From what I have read I need a valve body rebuild. The tranny is only like six months old. It is a megamax tranny, don't laugh. I got screwed like a lot of other people. Well I own it now so I better fix it. Can I buy rebuilt/new valve bodies? How hard is rebuilding what I have? I figure someone on this site will have the info I need. Thanks in advance.

Will the somax kit fix the hard 1st to 2nd shift. I forgot to mention the truck will not go into OD as well. With the shifter in D the truck will shift really hard from 1st to 2nd then normally into 3rd then nothing. Whats the deal?

When code 1870 sets line is sent to max by the PCM and 3-4 shift is disabled. this will cause the very hard shifts because the line is maxed, The PCM sees the converter clutch commanded to engage but then detects excessive slip ussually this is due to sticky regulator valve that sets right next to the pwm solenoid or a bad pwm solenoid.
Then the PCM it thinks theres something slipping and then as I said raises the line presure to max and disables lockup and fourth gear,
If you get the sonax kit and a new PWM solenoid you should be fine if everything else about the transmission is working ok.
Code 1870 is a common issue with the 4L60E
