Default Tranny Temp Guage

I just bought an autometer tranny temp guage to put in my car. I searched and found that the 3 most common places to put the sender are either in the pan, the pressure test port, or the hot side of the tranny cooler. I'm not sure what position will be the best though. I just want to see accurate temperatures that the tranny is seeing. My dad wants to put it in the pan, but i'm not sure so i thought that i'd ask everyone else what they thought. thanks!

the pan would probably be the best spot , You would get the best average temperature there. However the hot side of cooler would give you and idea of the max fuild temps in the trans .

I agree. Just put it in the pan. Its not rocket science, you just want an idea of average temps.
