I just read this whole thread, i figure theres a 10% chance i missed it but ive spent the better part of 2 hours here so....
seems Rossler makes RMVB and Tbrake kit that work at the same time on the 80, how would one control the lockup function of the converter?
what are the gear ratios of the 80 compared to 4l60, t56, th400 etc? personally im only interested in comparing to the 60 but im not the only member of ls1tech.

OD in a 4L80 is like 5th gear on a T56. It is MUCH stronger than a 4L60E, and literally is a new electronic version of the Th400 (2/3 of the geartrain/clutches is shared with the Th400).
Put it this way, 4L80E can be built to go 7s in the 1/4 mile (Ohio boys have done it).
For lockup, either put it on a switch or buy a lockup controller (they make em for 700R4s and 2004Rs)

For FMVB with Tbrake, there is Rossler (with his little converter box, extra) and Jake's Performance (I have this one, but full auto).
STONE STOCK 4L80E (as GM built it) will only hold ~500hp. With a rebuild (reputable 4L80E builder) or a Transgo -2 Kit, they will hold ~750 before you need to start adding billet parts (input is the first to go, then forward hub).

TCI makes a RMVB brake for the 4L80E.
Rossler makes an add-on manifold for forward pattern only, and can be setup as auto or full manual. It requires a deep pan and is known to be too slow for a pro-tree.
CK Performance makes a forward and reverse pattern manual transbrake, and I believe he has one for auto shift as well.
I make one for forward pattern auto function and manual function. Same brake, different methods of controlling the trans. No deep pan required.
Stock 4L80E is good for about 450-500 HP. The stock hard parts are good for about 750 HP/TQ. The hydraulics need to be upgraded to live above 500 HP.

as for the Transgo -2 Kit, this one?

Great thread. I just bought a 2005 5.3 with harness and computer for a swap. Is there anything different about the 05 computer/harnesses than the older versions? It was an auto 4wd crew cab half ton Z71. I am guessing it would have the 4l60 correct? Since it's such a large truck, could it have a 4l80 in it or was that 2500 and up only trucks?
