4l60e no reverse after rebuild
I have a 95 trans am with a 4l60e that blew out 3 4 clutches I rebuilt the transmission put it back in and now no reverse. I have taken the trans apart 3 times now in the last 2 weeks and can’t find anything wrong. Nothing is broke and looks as it should as far as I can tell. Yes it has enough fluid in it new filter and seals. It had reverse before I tore it down. A couple of odd things are if I put in neutral and try to move the wheels they will only go forward and not backwards. I also tried to scan it and kept saying fail. My scanner will read the obd1 codes. I didn’t mess with the pump or the valve body.

You can take your car for a test drive and pull the shifter all of the way down to manual low and verify that you have engine braking. If you have engine braking the low reverse clutches are working.

I would take it for a test drive but it will not roll backwards in neutral to get it out of my garage I have it in the air and I can’t turn it by hand while it’s in neutral. It’s almost like it’s locked up. I wonder if some how something is backwards I honestly don’t know. When I shift it to reverse it sound like it wants to go in reverse but it doesn’t move. I’ve let it sit and run in drive for about an hour and still no reverse. The reinforcement plate is tight. I never took the boost valve out.

Read this, sounds like you could have valve body bolts in the wrong spot ....

EDIT: i would pull 1 bolt at a time, check to see if the car rolls in reverse and then reinstall that bolt again vs dropping the whole valve body.

The wrong Valve-Body Bolt could be the issue...
It is usually an issue in the Manual-Low/ 1st-Gear Position also.
Does the Manual-Low/ 1st-Gear Position operate properly?
If not the Bolt, then continuing on...
Pressure in the Manual-Low/ 1st-Gear Position?
Pressure in the reverse position?
If everything looks good for the Manual-Low/ 1st-Gear Position...
Then something in regard to the Reverse-Input Circuit would be an issue.
Was the Reverse Input Drum replaced?
The wrong Version of the Reverse Input drum can cause a restriction.
Wrong Valve-Body Gaskets, wrong Separator-Plate, Check-Ball in the wrong place...
Time to do some digging!
