4l60e...stock 99 flywheel...750+ hp... besides maybe getting a sfi flywheel, is there something else i can do? A blanket may save me from a tranny explosion..but does nothing to stop a spiing broken flywheel..is there something out there to stop taht sucker from taking a chop at my legs if she breaks loose?

How about you ditch the flywheel idea because Automatics don't have one?

Seriously though, the flexplate is bolted to both the engine and the torque converter. Somehow I think the chances of somehow managing to break every bolt in there, and come flying up at your legs is less than being hit by a train.

But anyway...maybe some reinforcement in the tunnel so it stays down there?

I have heard of bell housing blankets for manual tranmissions, in case the clutch explodes, but never for automatics. Am I missing something here?

Flexplate shields are required for 9.99 or faster per NHRA. Currently no one makes one for the 4L60e. I have been looking as my 4L60 is going to take me to low 9's this year.

It sounds as if the trans blanket is the only option for you here Jammer.

CSR actually makes a flexplate / trans shield for the 4L60e.
The part number is CSR 841, and it's the only one I've found.

won't work for a LS1 4L60e, Bell housing is different.
