Stall wont stall??? Why Fuddle 3800 I just had my tranny rebuilt, trans go shift kit set up to handle a high stall 3500+. After a long ordeal of my stall being lost by fedex. Jon @ Fuddle built me a 9.5 converter. Stall is supposed to be a 3800 and jon said with the angles in the fins it should be good for at least 3500-up. I dont see anything more than 2200. Break stall is 1800rpm. WTF, how can a 9.5in verter do this? I am untuned on 3.73 with no gear correction. Please help. Power is ther car ran high 12s before this.

the problem is you're in 1st gear.
put it in 2nd gear and brakestall...it will stall as advertised.
my 4k stall would only stall up to ~2,200 before pushing the front tires (as i STOOD on the brakes..). 3,600lb car still went bottom 1.6x on basically stock suspension.

Sounds normal to me...
3800 stalls don't slip to 3800 under light throttle. Only at WOT and off the mark with a dead hook will you get *close* to the 3800 rated stall speed.

i will drive it at lunch...i have been in drive not first gear or over drive. i will try it, i understand how a stall is supposed to work as my friends have them. Mine drives like its stalled but i can get the intitail launch? will try your recommendation. Why would being in first have anything to do with it?

You will only see true stall with a transbrake. You will not be able to brake stall any where close to that. You should see a flash stall of the line somewhat close to the actual stall though. You need to do a little research on converter stalls.

there is no flash point as tires start spinning around 2k rpm. But around town it feels and sounds stalled. No off the line though.... i will check your thread we todd did. I am not an idiot nor are the guys driving my car with 30+yrs expierence. Still its a 9.5in stall the min flash point with the trim should be 3-3500

In 1999 I had a Yank 3000, 2.0str and it brake stalled about 3300rpm and never tried to push the tires. On the track it would leave about/flash stall 3000+ rpm but never pulled hard. It was way too loose and overheated my trans twice before I pulled it out. This was a junk converter. I heard Yank makes better stuff now.

i dont know what i am gonna do, prolly send it back and let jon a fuddle look at it. I just hate the down time. It drives like a stalled car all day long...beautiful! Its just the launch is not there. Could there be anything in the tune or that i have 3.73 with no gear correction? somone please help me... i know how to drive and how the car should react

So your saying if your sitting at a red light and it goes green, you take your foot off the brake and mash the gas to the floor is will only flash to 2,000rpm's before taking off with a 3,500+ stall?

it dependes on the str if its 2.5+ its not goin to foot brake as high as say a 3200 with a 2.0-2.2str...
i had a 3200 fuddle with a 2.2str and swaped it out for a ss3600 which has a 2.5str and it drives just like the 3200...
the 3200 i had was considered loose for a small stall....

correct no flash point. It turns green i floor it it spins the tires at 1800rpm...just like stock no jump in rpm to 3800 now around town cruising under load it drives like a stalled car. NO i am not crazy

wow, that's pretty high, I can only brake stall my fuddle 3800 to around 2200 before the tires starts breaking loose.

Come on guys, lol A stock converter will slip more in first than what he's describing. He should be able to stall to 2400-2600 on street tires with a 3800+ verter!
Atleast thats my experience with 3600++ verters.
I remeber my stock verter stallin to 1300 with street tires. lol
