Default I want the biggest tranny cooler

I will be installing a Yank 4000 soon, and really want my tranny to live. So I think that I should probably put the biggest cooler in there that I can find to keep temperatures down. What cooler do you recommend. The biggest that I've really seen is the B&M 24k. Will that suffice? Also, what tranny gauge are most of you running? And which shift kit? Thanks

I'd recommend just getting a scan guage, you can monitor everything

That's a great tranny cooler...Me and Ellis both use that. I have raced my set up and put lots of stop and go in town on my 4400 flash stall and never seen more than 155* in town and 170* at the track....

What is considered a safe temperature for the tranny? And what is pushing it hot enough to be concerned?

as long as you keep it under 170 for sustained periods and if it creeps up to 225 or so, on occasion, you should be fine... just make sure you have the means to cool it back down

I never push it over 200* when racing it. I usually see around 150* cruising, and 175-180* in stop and go traffic in 80* weather.

I have a medium sized advance auto cooler but I also have a 160 Tstat and reprogrammed fans, it never gets above 140 according to my scanner. The stat and the fans keep the coolant much lower which in turn keeps the tranny cooler.

bigger is not necessarily better. the fluid does need heat.

I got this one:
http://www.autoanything.com/generic_...5216&p_id=3050

Although i haven't driven the car much, i have been playing with the transbrake a lot which heats the fluid up very quickly and as soon as the temp gets to ~175-~180, the fan cuts on and the tranny temp just drops....so i don't think i will have any problems with keeping things cool on the street under normal driving.

I use this one. Usually hangs right at 165* +/-, and haven't seen more than 175-180* on a hot day in stop/go traffic

http://store.summitracing.com/partde...5&autoview=sku

Mounted vertically in front, directly behind the licence plate cover/grill, but will be moveing it to the back behind the rear wheels-

No, unfortunately it only comes with the cooler. You have to buy the fittings separate. Mine is mounted right in front of my radiator (No A/C), a tad to the passenger side because of the FTRA.
