Default New tranny already having problems.

Well I just got the tranny in a couple weeks ago and its already wanting to slip into gear, 2nd and drive. I went to the drag strip Friday and it was fine, made 4 eigth mile passes, and it shifted fine on the way home. Today was the first time I got it out since friday and it is slipping into gear and wont shift at all at wot. The tranny has kevlar race band, trans go shift kit, alto red eagle clutches, corvette servo. It has a 3000 TCI stall. The stall is not wanting to lock up at all. I ran the codes about a week ago and the p1870 code came up but i thought it was because the converter wasnt locking. Does anybody have any idea why after I let it sit for two days the tranny would start slipping??

Your correct the 1870 code has to do with the converter not locking , Barring low fluild my best guess on the sudden change in behavior would be a PCS (presure control solenoid) , Or a restricted filter.

Yes that or possibly a stuck PR valve , I would pull the pan to replace the PCS and check the PR valve while I was in there

Even before I went to the track if you were cruising at 60mpn and kicked it down it seemed like it took it a minute to down shift into second and slip a little. But if you were around 25mph it would down shift to first instantly with no hesitation. When you put it in gear it would also take a second and sometimes slam into gear. Is this signs of the PCS going bad???

You should probably contact your builder to discuss what is going on before you do any damage to the unit.

I would agree with Vince here , But If thats for whatever reason not possible I would try changing the PCS as a first step .The symptoms sound right .

I called the guy that rebuilt it and said the same thing as you did the pcs or restricted filter.

Well I got it out today and drove it and it seems to be doing fine. Second is crisp and firm like before. Drive is a little soft but not that bad.
