necessary to break in new tranny??

i just got my 4l60-e rebuilt with a 3k stall, and the builder told me to break it in for 1,000 miles. is that really necessary? i wanna go race someone already!

Every one has different ideas but we tell our customers drive for one day normally then set over night. Start/warm/ check fluild and after that do a you wish
