I have all the parts just haven't installed it waiting to do it all at once with the motor.

Built 4L80E
TCI 4L80E wiring harness
TCI flexplate
BMR transmission crossmember
4L80E Vig converter
Top Gun Spohn Driveshaft
Lokar Firewall dipstick (have yet to get this)
And some type of tranny mount

You can reuse your har lines for the tranny cooler from what I have been told.
And you have to have the Tunnel cut for the TCI controller to plug into it.
Other than the above I believe thats it.

Should be and easy swap other than the controller and drive shaft/crossmember position.
certainly easier I would think than the LS1 since has been available since 1989 for the LT1 SET UP

I honestly am not that familiar with the TCI controller, I havent seen any major issue with it in any of the forums I frequent.I would imagine though its probably ok . I am pretty sure the PCM is made and purchased from some other manufacturer since TCI is more of a hard parts company.

Yes you can have a lock up converter and a T-brake if you wish.
Its streetable overdrive th400 basically.

TCI flexplate
BMR transmission crossmember

And some type of tranny mount

I think I'm going to give it a shot too. I was going to do a TH400, but I wanted to be able to have fun on a highway. I'll probably go with a low mileage stock 4L80E, add a full manual kit, and a decent converter and fab the rest to work.

Which TCI Flexplate did you go with? Is it a standard LT1/SBC bolt pattern or is it different bolt pattern? Does it need spaced like the LS1 guys talk about?

Also did you have the cover plate on the converter custom made to fit this flexplate? Which Vigilante did you go with?

I am doing a budget Full Manual 4L80E and the only items left to figure out is the converter and the flexplate.

Thanks.

I got mine done about a month ago. I went with a Vigilante from Tbyrne. I got it custom made for a LT1 flexplate and it ended up running me 629.

The install was pretty straight forward compared to what I had imagined. I fabricated my own trans crossmember by welding steel to extend it [The 4L80E sits back far] I could have bought the BMR or Yank one, but it saved me $200. I also run Transgo's Stage 3 Full Manual Valve body kit, which eliminated the very expensive controller and wiring issues. I kept lockup which is just a matter of rigging up a switch to the power and TCC tabs on the trans plug. I bought 1/4" NPT to barb fittings to clear the tunnel and ran rubber tranny line to the cooler. It's very hard to make the stock shifter work due to the angles of the shift level, so I put a B&M Mega shifter in, which fit perfectly with the TH400/TH350 shift cable bracket. It just bolted right on. I also run a deep pan and got the driveshaft shortened an inch or so, and I was all set. Thankfully I got the trans yoke with the trans which helped getting the driveshaft mated correctly.

So thats what I did...

4L80E $100
Transgo $250
Driveshaft $100
3200 Vigilante $629
Total $1079

Options
Derale Deep Pan - $80
B&M Mega Shifter - Traded two old tires

Pretty good deal considering I spent $2000 on a 4L60E that blew up going 25mph.

Stock flexplate.

I got the 4L80E from ebay for $100 and I picked it up. It was from a 1 ton Chevy and has lots of miles on it. Runs perfectly.
