Default New trans rebuild - No 3rd or 4th gear!

I had about 200 miles on a new built trans. Coming home today from a good day of tuning - I lost 3rd and 4th gear. Manual low and 2nd work perfect. D and OD work fine until it hits 3rd gear and then it revs up with no power.

There were not any weird signs of failure before it happened, i just floorboarded it @ 70 mph and it bouned off the limiter. Its been F'd ever since.

I built the trans myself - everything was 100% inspected, clearances checked, seals replaced...etc.

Here are the parts that were replaced/upgraded:
-HD rear 5 pinion planetary
-vette 2nd gear servo
-sonnax super 4th
-alto kolene steels
-alto red eagle clutches
-alto wide band
-transgo **** kit
-10 vane pump rotor gear, guides, and vanes
-beast sun shell
-sonnax 1-2 and 3-4 "pinless" billet accumulators
-TCI deep pan

I have a hard time believing/thinking that its the 3-4 clutchpack but with my luck it probably is. The fluid still looks new and pink!

I haven't torn it down yet but I was hoping someone might have an idea or could point me in the right direction...

Thanks,
David

It is possible that you might have broken the input drum where the 3-4 clutch snap ring is suppose to go. This can be caused by excessive pressure, improper accumulation or even feed hole sizes that are much to large. I guess the first hing to do is to see what is damaged first and then figure why. Good luck, Vince.

I would agree sounds like you broke the 3/4 snap ring lugs in the input drum.

Yep... 3-4 clutchpack is TOAST.... Everything else looks perfect.

I noticed when I was pulling the snap ring out that there was a TON of slop in the drum. I'm assuming its because all of the clutch material is gone? Maybe I F'd something up during install. Can anyone recommend anything I should check and inspect?

Can I purchase just the 3-4 clutches and steels? Should I replace the steels?

Please take a look at the link below - its a pic of my "new" clutches

I would have thought I messed up a lip seal while assembling but everything looks good. What else can I inspect that would cause loss of pressure to the 3-4 clutches?

Check the oring in the center, Check the inside of the stator for wear in the area the teflon rings ride.

Might want to take a look at the drum itself. The input shaft might be floating and causing a cross leak. I press these out on every rebuilt unit to verify that the drum is good and also that the shaft has resistance when it is pressed back in.
