Default looking for clarification. loosing 3/4 - 4l60e

if im loosing 3/4 on my trans does this have any effects on my new verter.

the reason im asking is because when i lost them (3/4) in my old car (s/c c5)
i was told that the verter is toast, or at a min needs to be sent out, split open and cleaned up.

true?
false?

thanks.

That is good advice... considering the cost of removing the trans, repair of the trans and all the hassle involved it is cheap insurance. Besides, there are Timken roller bearings inside converters that cannot be inspected unless they are removed.

If you reuse a converter that has been in front of a tranny that failed you are risking debris from the converter getting into the valve body and other small orifices in the unit.... very not good indeed after spending those resources getting it repaired. Do it right the 1st time and you will be satisfied and not dissapointed.

Good Luck wid it!
