Default 1st gear AND overdrive issue - need help

okay so i installed my 4l60e trans last week and everything was fine. today i took the car to work and after a little while on the highway, i got to my exit, stopped and when the light turned green i had no first gear. i got up to speed and noticed that my overdrive didn't kick in...

i took the car to lunch - and everything was fine...

what gives??? does this sound familiar to anyone?

okay - i do have a check engine light on - but i can't check them anytime soon (at work).

autozone pulls codes for free - would their scanners be able to tell me trans codes???

what is limp mode???

thanks for the quick reply

limp mode happens when theres generally and electrical fault and basically the PCM disables power to the trans. Could be a shorted wire when you get the codes holler back . get the actual numbers not what they mean.

hmmm... okay. i'll stop by an autozone on the way home today.

either and or theres are several possibilites though if you had no tuuning done for the stall it code also be a po757 or other solenoid code because the PCM dosent understand that stall .

code p0757 - "shift solenoid stuck open"

says possible cause are poor electrical connection, low fluid level, or failed shift solenoid.

i just did the install, so i know the fluid level is right... and i think all my electrical connections are good.

so that kinda leaves me with a failed shift solenoid. what do you think???

A solenoid is a very likely cause for this code in a fresh rebuild if the solenoid was not replaced. They are not difficult to replace at all, could be done inside an hour.

Is the converter a recent addition? It could cause similar problems.

The converter a higher stall is a recent addition , I spoke with him and now that I see the code he needs to see a tuner ,
