Default yank ss4000 in daily driver and know car shifts erradically...come in.

did a vindicator camshaft had a tune and had changes made for the ss4000 before i put it in so when i installed the converter it drives like ****. yank told me it has to relearn everything and to put some miles on it . but it sometimes wont come out of 2nd , seems to shift real early when it does shift and you cant feel the shifts really at all,and other than that it just feels like its slipping real bad????? any oppinions btw its a 00ta mail order by ed wright.

i wouldn't rely souly on a mail order tune to get you there. i'd atleast have someone do some quick road tuning to make sure everything is on.

if the trans is slipping bad, then it could just be your trans takin' a crap on you. a big stall will increase your shift extension - i hope you atleast have a shift kit...

I had a ST 3500 for which I never tuned and it drove fine, When I replaced it with the SS4000 I knew it needed a tune for which it would not lock up all time. Got it tuned and it is beautiful.

Going from a stock stall to a 4000 stall will make the shifts seem softer and will throw the shift strategy off !! It should have to be tuned and will never work any thing like it would with the factory setup . Thik of it this way , now to achieve the same output shaft speeds in the lowr gears (1,2,3) it will be turning about 2200 rpm more !!!!

I would disagree.

In a 4 speed w/ lockup it's very feasible. I know many people with 4k+ stalls that drive there car's quite often if not daily.

Get the car tuned and it will be fine.

I have a Yank SS4000. The car does kind of feel like a snowmobile sometimes. You don't really feel the shifts when just cruising around. At WOT the shifts feel fine. You can't expect a 4k stall to drive like a stock one. It just doesnt work that way. In my mind, the SS4000 is still perfectly streetable. I'd have no problems driving my anywhere with that converter.

I second that! I ran the SS4000 in my DD for about a year and now it has a PT4000. Even better now!!!!(both Yank convertors btw)
