Default 4L60E problem

took the 4L60E that was in one of my cars (perfect shifting, no slip, no probs) and put it in the other '94 Z28 as it's trans had lost 3rd

works great . . . at first

now P acts like a transbrake
R is like neutral
N O D 2 1 are all forward gears now

help!

I have looked at linkage, cable and shifter they appear fine

what could happen internally that would make a trans do this?

any help greatly appreciated

this makes me wanna take a class on basic tranmission
they confuse me so
I can grasp why I think it would do what it does, but since I don't know the parts I can't picture how it works and it's driving me nuts lol

thanks much for the reply

You could also have a manual linkage that has been disconnected inside that would give you whatever range it was stuck in !!
