Default Transgo Kit part #

Allright here is the deal. I am unsatisfied with the way my trans shifts. The car is a 02 WS6 T/A AT. The car seems to shift too soon. It will be in overdrive by 25-30 mph. It's hard to get playfull with the car because of this. I guess if it was a Caddy or Buick or something it would be alright. I know from reading this and other sites that Transgo is the only way to go so which one and who has the best deals? The car is a semi-daily driver not a race car. I think I want firmer, faster shifts. A little bark from first to second would be nice and I'm not sure about the shift timing. All I know is that I want it more performance oriented with the overdrive maybe not coming on until 50mph or so. Does this make sence?

If the trans is shifting to soon a shift kit is not going to fix that issue for you. The transmission only shifts when the computer commands it to. You might want to have your tune for ECM looked at. Have you made any changes in rear end such as the ratio or tire height? This will definitely effect the shift timing. The kit that is most common is the HD-2 kit from transgo.

I had the same issue as you - my car had 2.73's, and the trans would upshift too early, not downshift soon enough, lock-up too soon. The result? Bog. The car felt really sluggish - I hated it.

The solution, as Vince said, is tuning. Then to firm up your shifts and bolster overall tranny performance, get the Transgo.

how do I go about fixing this? Have the computer adjusted I mean. Does anyone offer a performance tuning service (computer only) for the 4L60E?

You might want to check out some of the site sponsors. You also can try to start a thread in the tuning section or try the regional forums. You will probably get some suggestions. Good luck. Vince
