Default shifter moves too easily

well i just got done installing heads, cam, polyurethane motor and tranny mounts, etc. in my A4. first off, you don't even need to press the button down unless you are going from park to reverse or overdrive to drive. no button is needed from reverse to neutral, drive to 2nd, or 2nd to 1st. i also notice that the lever is really easy to move. before you had to pull on it like you normally would, now you just have to lightly give it a nudge for it to move. i have no idea what it would be unless it had something to do with the tranny mount that i installed because i didn't change anything else with the tranny. any ideas?

Thats normal to only have to push the button from park to reverse or OD to D. My car does it and I get everyone elses too. Hell my old '87 chevy celebrity did it too. As for it being too easy to move I dont know about that one.

it is so easy that sometimes it wont' even catch the gear. for example, if i put it in reverse it wont' always go into reverse. you have to find the sweet spot.

Disconect the cable from the trans likage shaft and move the shaft by itself to make sure you still have detent clicks as you move the shifter. The spring loaded roller may have come lose in the transmission . Also make sure that the cable is not loose at the bracket as this will cause too much travel !!!

it seems when i drive the car the shifter is getting a little firmer now. maybe the poly trans mount just needed to seat in??? i will try to check that out.
