There are valid arguements for and against the 60E. I believe it comes down to personal expierence and how you drive.
I trashed a stock 60E (although it did last awhile) and a locally "built" transmission that lasted for 26K. In my opinion if I pay 1500 dollars for a transmission then it better last alot longer than 26 thousand miles. Especially behind a stock internal 135K LT1.
My bolt on LT1 has eaten 2 4L60Es and 2 10 bolt rear ends.
I don't have alot of time or money and swapping out major components like rear ends and transmissions is expensive and time consuming.
I now have a Rossler TH400 and a Strange 12 bolt rear in the car, I bought both slightly used and it still wasn't cheap but now I worry about my drivetrain a whole lot less.
In my opinion if all your going to do is cruise the car then go with a built 60E and keep the overdrive. If your a serious racer and drive the car hard then you should consider putting bulletproof components in the car.
