Default Help confirm the demise of my 4l60e

Stock tranny with about 86,000 miles. No problems whatsoever until yesterday. Pulled out of a parking lot and went to 3/4 throttle from a roll. Transmission shifted from 1st to 2nd and sounded as if someone hit the car with a sledge hammer (big bang!). Car went into limp mode. I have no reverse and you can hear a constant grinding noise when placed in neutral. No trouble lights on the dash. I have HPTuners but no DTC's are showing for the tranny which I think is a little odd. I have not had a chance to drop the pan but am I safe to assume that I will find pieces of the shell perhaps at the bottom? Again, I am assuming this suggests a complete rebuild. Any thoughts appreciated.

No second or reverse you stripped or broke the sunshell you will need to go into the unit or replace it .

Yes, your transmission suffered a hard part failure. Probably the sunshell.
Typically you will not see debris from it in the pan. It's possible, but not usual.

Good luck.

Thanks for the replies. Looks as if I have some decisions to make.
