Default Cost of replacing transmission front seal

Can anyone give me an estimate of how much a shop would charge for this?

Thanks in advance...

Around $280-360. The mechanic has to pull the tranny and converter off.

If the front seal is leaking, you most likely have other issues related to that. You rarely see a front seal go bad.

Correct. As an example for folks to see, I keep a worn out tailshaft housing bushing on my counter as evidence of that very specific fact. The trans was old, over time the weight of the driveshaft has simply eggshaped the bushing causing the seal to become disfigured, thus a leak.

To speak to the cost, typically we charge $350.00 to R&R a transmission. If it needs a minor repair we might not bill for that in addition, but it is taken on a case by case scenario. You should plan anywhere between $350.00 and $500.00.. no way to know what it needs until the problem is visually inspected.

Hope that helps.
