As long as you have a nice big cooler in a good location, I don't see the *need* for a trans temp gauge. I don't use one, and haven't had a "blowing up due to heat" problem on my th350

Its not needed but a tranny gauge will not hurt anything either.

not really needed but one gauge (ie A/F) in a gauge pod just looks so lonely

Well I like to know the temp of my motor and the temp of my tranny. When you spend over $2000 on a tranny to me its cheap piece of mind. JMO

I agree. If you monitor your engine temps and it gets too hot you shut it down to prevent engine damage. Same deal with an expensive trans. If it gets too hot you will know it and can save the tranny.

I race mine once in awhile and the trans temp gauge is my indicator of when to stop. Granted, the gauge is not really needed and I think too many gauges looks bad. In the TA, the AC vents are a perfect place to install a 2 5/8 gauge and I put one in. Most of the time, my temps are below 180 and the gauge is more visual. At the track, once I am over 200 degrees time to shut it down.
