Question What is Converter Chatter?

I have a noise coming from the bottom of my car ,around the verter area.I hear it worst at 40-50 mph. This noise has been since I installed my Vig 3800 ,took it out PI went thru it and said all was good and fine.My trans guy put it back in and noise still there The noise is hard to describe.I tried do the 100/90 for full release and lock up ,but if you ask me the noise is about the same if not worse. The noise is sparatic not constant....What do you guys think? Was going to an M6 but not working out at the moment.Probably sometime next year. But in the mean time I have this stinking noise to deal with....

Converter chatter happens when the TCC is applied,
usually when it is applied with too little force and lets
the clutch slip. Some clutches do not slip quietly. My
TCI made sort of a "hooting" noise on on-ramps as the
clutch slipped under mild acceleration. It would most
likely be a low- to medium-pitched groaning, howling,
hooting kind of noise if it were chatter.

If you were to disable lockup and the noise remains
then it's not chatter.

One thing to remember is that 100% of not-enough,
is still not-enough and that's what the stock tune
applies at TPS up to about 20-25% (by my logs).
Still commanding 0% line pressure up light grades.
That's lame, you may want to work the General
Pressure modifier for TCC Locked to bump the line
enough to hold. Or reduce the low-line-% force
motor table values some, if you don't have this
feature available.

It's like a clicking-tinking sound ,but I can only hear it when the converter is locked up.If say I am cruising next to someone at 45-50 mph its sounds like some one is rattling a box of bolts, and stops then starts again. There is no moaning and groaning or even howling with this noise.....
