trans pushing fluid out of dipstick no 1st or overdrive
please help 48k miles 3000 stall convertor car a 2.73 rearend put in it i havent changed gears out yet when i drove the other day about 15 miles i noticed car wouldnt go back in low gear and wouldnt go into overdrive got home left at idle unlocked dipstick and pulled out trans fluid puked out i let sit overnight added about 1 quart of trans fluid and since cooled off it took low gear. i dont know if trans got to hot from convertor and the high gears or if i have a trans problem. i have and external cooler added. any ideas or help greatly appreciated i know nothing about transmissions

Did you have a check engine light? I wonder if you are having a problem with shift solenoid A? This solenoid is required for 1st and 4th. Might be a good idea to have your vehicle scanned. Sounds like it might have gotten pretty hot for it to push oil out of the dipstick.

Well first did your ses light come on , A typical reason for a no first or fourth is a bad 1-2 shift solenoid stuck or the actual shift valve stuck. As for puking fluild out the dipstick thats ussually a sign the vent tube on top of the trans is plugged. But it does sound like it got a bit warm

im gonna check tube on top of trans to see if stoped up i let sit overnite added about one quart of fluid it took low and shifted out im just curious why it done it that day. i wasnt really hard in trans
