Default Trouble w/ new tranny not shifting

My uncle just got his tranny back from art carr for warranty. So today me and him put it in his truck (2001 Z71 5.3l). Once we get everything buttoned up, we go for a test drive. The first thing that we noticed was that the speedo wasnt working, and it wouldnt shift out of first. it will shift if you do it manually but not on its own in drive. We both double checked all the plugs in the tranny and transfercase and they are all where they should be. The only lights that were thrown are the ((ABS)) and parking brake light. I was thinking that maybe the speedo sensor went bad when we had the t-case out. Does any one know what it could be? Everything is as it should be, we even compared to my truck, any help is much appreciated.

Well the likley answer you mentioned , The trans will not upshift ot will upshift late very without the speed sensor. Your going to have to get that fixed before you can go any further, Could be anything from the plug, wiring, sensor so Check over it all carefully.
