Default Help with stutter with 4L60E @ 75MPH

Hello -

Today while I was on the highway, I stomped on it to avoid some pain in the *** messing with me. Normally, it would go pretty good with no hesitation...well, this time when I stomped on it, it literally didn't do anything for about 5 seconds before finally accelerating nicely.

It's an 02, pretty much stock with 27k miles on it.

Any ideas? This is the first time I've had much trouble with it.

Thanks,

Grant

Can you get it to repeat?

If so it would be best to put a scanner on it and watch the sensor data to see what is happening.

Well, I tried to earlier this morning and it didn't happen. Maybe I need to change the plugs/wires? Clean/replace the MAF?

You can try to throw parts at it and see if you fix it but I would suggest actually diagnosing the cause to save you some $$ and grief.

It could be a TPS issue or a couple of dozen other issues. Put a quality scanner on it and look for faulty sensor data.

Agreed on the scanner and it dose not sound like a trans issue.

Really? We changed the plugs today and it seems like transmission is still slipping a little. However, where would I go to scan the codes at? Or what would I need to buy to scan them myself?

What does it sound like, performabuilt?

You need a quality scanner that will tell you sensor data from the engine, trans, etc.
Most of the cheaper scanners will not do this.
Snap-On, etc. About 2K+ new.

You need a shop with a good scanner or dealership with a Tech II.

Hello Grant,

Gilbert here from ACE over in North Richland Hills.

The severe delay on downshift at highways speeds can be related to several different components. Including engine controls.

We can help you get to the bottom of this set of symptoms. I'm curious, have you been able to duplicate it? if so, do you think you could make it do it again if you were to come by and take me for a ride while I surf the scanner?

Either way.... call me tomorrow. I have several errands early, and then a very busy day lined out. But, I can make the tim eto discuss this with you if you would like to call, say early afternoon.?. Maybe, call early and talk to John, our builder. He may have a suggestion or two over the phone.

We are real easy to find... give us a call and we'll do what we can to get you fixed up asap!

I still stay with and engine running issue , Did you clean the MAF , As for scanning for codes any decent trans shop can do that and most general repair garages. I would have this done where ever you end up have them also watch the data stream. Or data log whats happening .
