Default HELP!!! I Think My 4l60e Just Took a Dump!

A couple of hours ago I was leaveing base heading to school. I pulled away from a stop light very slowly because I was just enjoying The weather and my t-tops when at about 30mph I lost all power to the wheels and I heard a metalic swishing sound in my transmission area. I put it in neutral which had no effect on the sound and coasted to the side. The sound slowed and stopped by the time I pulled over. It is here at my house now. When the tow truck dude pushed it into my drive way it was making a clicking noise even though it was in neutral. The clicking wasn't loud but I could hear it from inside with the engine turned off. Any ideas? It is my only car and I've got school. CRAP!

Also, the transmission went out about a year and a half ago and I had it rebuilt. I just installed a Vig Stall about a week and a half ago. The first time the Transmission went out it was a week or so after I had it flushed. I changed the fluid and filter when I did the stall and it has plenty of fluid in it.

What gears are you missing or all of them?

If you recently installeda converter and i will not move forward or reverse, I would unhook a cooler line and start the car and check for flow. Pumps are commonley damaged during converter installs it seems.

I dont know if I have reverse or not. Once I pulled off the road I shut my car off. I have no forward at all. I told a guy at a transmission shop about it and he guessed it may be the rear planetary gear. Anyone had their rear planetary go?

Would the pump cause that sound? It sounded kind of like a skill saw but not as loud.

Dude at the transmission shop also said that if the planet did "**** the bed" then I should ship my TC back to vig to make sure it didn't get filled with metal. Does that sound right?

Well it could make noise , But then so could stripping a rear planet set . With the liited description its eally hard to say either way except the obvious , Your probably gonna need a transmission. You can check the pump as I described anything else and you will have to tear into the trans.

Well, I will check the pump but I am pretty sure I will be looking at one of those level 2 setups of yours.

Cool look forward to hearing from you and the trans shop is wrong about the converter, If it just stripped the planet center then it would have no effect on the converter , Metal and debris can only get into the converter from the converter itself or the pump . Other wise everything has to go through the filter/

Just ordered my PerformaBuilt Level 2. I am pretty stoked. Any tips on the best way to flush the cooler and it's lines?
