Default How do you install the dipstick tube w engine in the car???

This damn thing is driving me crazy. I have tried to maneuver it every which way to get it to slide into the tranny with no luck. Has anyone ever had this problem before? If so how do you fix it?

Thanks in advance to anyone that stops me from throwing a hissy-girly fit.

I had a friend help me put it in. He was up top holding it down while I jacked the tranny up and guided the tube into the hole. Hope this helps.

Can't do it with the trans and motor attached. The flexible lokar unit will slide right in there thought.

The Lokar flexible dipstick is like $60. Trust me, just go ahead and buy it. It will make life MUCH simpler.

I left the tube in the car when I did my tranny swap. It was a pain getting it mounted back up though.

You can try to unbolt the cross member and lowering the trans and see if that helps. I got my madman tube in that way but the stock one is longer and not sure if it will fit up in there with the passenger head on and the tranny installed.

Just did it last week. unbolt the four bolts holding the tranny crossmember. Using a jack, lower the tranny as far as it will go....once its started, have someone at the top TWIST the tube back and forth as you pull it into the hole from the bottom. It will slide in really easy when you twist it.

Pull the motor mounts and let the motor down so the dipstick doesn't hit the cowl.

Make sure you replace the rubber gromet, or at least make sure it is in there before you put the tube in. All that should have to be done is remove the crossmember and lower tranny. Thats how I did mine.
