Default anyone ever run an in-line tranny filter?

was looking through a tranny parts book the other day...saw one...crossed the number to a Wix...we had it in the warehouse...
this isn't the remote mount, spin-on type...just an in-line magnetic filter for trannies and power steering lines...

anyone ever use one?
is it overkill?

this is the one I saw in the catalog and crossed the number to a Wix...
http://www.pioneerautoinc.com/problem.htm
THIS one says it has a bypass feature...
I'll have to look at the Wix tomorrow...I know the Wix doesn't have the "heat sink" looking ribbed case...

They are not a bad idea if you have recently had a trans failure. However if your trans is creating metal, a in line filter is only a bandaid.
