FWIW a 4L80 is basically a TH400 with overdrive... They are quite a bit more expensive to build and I believe that you need some sort of electronics (BS3 or a standalone box) to control it... Either one with hold quite a bit of power...

You can control a 4L80E with a tune change, I did mine with HPT and control it with the stock PCM.

I highly recommend the swap - just be aware if you're swapping from a 4L60E you will lose a little power with the swap but gain a lot more durability.

Get a ratchet shifter from B&M or Hurst or something. You'll need one for a RMVB

get the 4l80 and have it built with a manual valve body, it will be a TON of fun and ou'll have the overdrive for highway cruising.

You can use your stock shifter, the shifter dosent know what trans its on, its just a lever that pulls the cable. You can get a P-R-N-1-2-3 decal made for the console cover that would look factory. Thats what I was going to do when I had my th400... I just decided to go 4l80e instead (I wanted OD)
