Default tranny fluid?

iam about to change my converter , what kind of trans fluid is the best and how many quarts! thanks oh its a 2002 camaro (ls1)

I'd go with Royal Purple Max ATF. Not sure how many quarts. Should say in your owners manual.

I think it is five quarts pan only. if the trans was empty converter and all it would be 11

Here's what I did: Add 1 full quart in converter while it is out of the car. Do not install dry. When assembly is complete, start car, immediately add 1 1/2 quarts, this brings fluid to lower hole on stick. Recheck and add accordingly. I've done this numerous times and it works good. This was to fill new converter only
