Rebuilt Trans and seems slower?
I had my tranny rebuilt by a local shop (company paid for it) and they put in some durret remanufacted converter in it. It runs great and shifts fine but it seems like it lost power. Can and how would this be?

Might that have been a Dacco converter? Dacco is a nationwide rebuilder who also does performance units.
Inside the transmission there is not anything they could have replaced that would make the car seem slower. However, if the converter stall was changed... lowered that is, it would seem slower.
Get us more details on the converter please... maybe that is your smoking gun.

I was up there one day while they had the tranny out and read the converter box and it said something like 1398 RPm ,or around that #, but when I asked the builder about that he said that didnt mean anything...

Well, talk to the guys that just did the work. Meaning, if they installed an incorrect converter then they should at least be responsible for the labor to R&R it. That is the way the business works. I am not pointing fingers at them, just going on what you stated here.
Before you take recommendations for a converter you should verify that is the cause of the new symptom you are feeling. Have you talked with the guys that did the work? If not then you should express your concerns in a very polite and professional maneer and see what they tell you.... then based on that response make a decision about how to proceed.
Just my .02.

Agreed again I wouldnt trust the box but if that was the stall speed thats a typical converter for trucks similar to what we use in out truck heavy duty transmissions and your low end response would suffer considerably. I agree talk to them first once its verified and be polite, There no worse way to not get what you want than being rude, Perhaps it was and honest mistake or perhaps they just didnt know it would matter, And honestly for 90 percent of the people in the world it probably wouldnt since most people dont pay to much attention to things like that.
