Default Huge Tranny Problem Please help

The tranny started shifting weird about 3 days agao (the car would rev up on its own/take a while to shift) then yesterday i got to a parking lot and it wouldnt go into reverse. i let it cool down for a few hrs. After that, i started it up and it engaged into reverse. as i left the car would struggle to go and at 2000-2300 rpms the tranny would just slip (motor would rev, car wouldnt go) i would have to shut off the car and start it up again for the gears to engage. it did this in every gear as well as overdrive. anyone have any ideas of what it might be? any info will be a great help!!!

Have you had a chance to drop the pan to do a visual inspection? It sounds like your transmission filter might be full of debris from an internal trans failure or converter. I have seen this happen when the debris plug up the filter and when you shut it down, the debris settle to allow you to move until it plugs back up. I would drop the pan to see what is going on. Also if it appears that the pan is pretty clean crack the filter open to look for a converter clutch failure. Give us a holler if you need anything. Vince

Converter clutch debris can be diferentiated from trans clutch debris... many times, not always though. Converter clutch material can be large pieces of dark fibrous material... large meaning pin head sized pieces... and a big pile of them to boot!

Either way if there is excessive clutch debris, the converter and the transmission should be repaired simultaneously.
