Default Power Gluide Or Th400

I am caught in fight on which one to go with...In the long run I am going to be better with the gluide...I am not worried about the streetablility of it since it will be track only car. Here is the low down of the car....

95 firedbird full BMR car ...the only thing I didnt buy is the key chain I think..lol It has a moser 12 bolt with 4.10 gears..The car will weight with me in it around 3000#'s or slightley heavier not sure yet. It has bogarts with 28" x 10.5 tires. Now for the motor it has a 398 with td shaft mount rocker converted RHS heads ported by Larry Meaux. Single plane accel intake modified by larry to fit Dominator 4barrel throttle body. 60#injectors with Magnaflow fuel system.. With 14.1 compression. Jay Allen cut the cam. I also have Accel Gen 7 to manage all this. I am also going to run Speed tech's 200 shot plate system under the dominator...

What do yall think I should run the th400 or gluide....Thanks for all your inputs

I would recommend the Powerglide for this application as it is a track only car. I am going to guess your H/P is around 600- 675 fw and with the N2O it is going to be nearly 800 h/p. The 400 could take that well and good enough, but there is no need for the 3rd gear. Now, that being said, a 4oo can 60' better because of the lower 1st gear. But, overall IMHO you will be happier with the Glide in the long run.

I agree with Ratchthed... Your car is light, making plenty of power... With the 2.66 first gear of the th400 you would burn the tires off trying to get that thing to hook... Both high gears are a 1:1 ratio so it really doesn't matter what you're worried about going through the traps at... I feel the glide would keep the nose down better and it's only a 1-2 shift and you're through the traps... What converter you thinking about for it??

That is not at all abnormal. I think that is good customer service from converter shops. Not that difficult to convert one either way, of course they should get paid for it, but I am glad to see them not tryong to sell you another unit!

When you get ready for the Glide let me know! We can build you a very nice unit that will last a long time. Determine your budget and we'll get you fixed up.
